Illustratorin-Porträt 

Barbara Jelenkovich studierte Illustration an der Akademie der Schönen Künste in Venedig. Sie arbeitet für verschiedene Verlage in Deutschland, Italien und Japan. Über 140 Bücher hat sie bislang illustriert, die in 25 Sprachen übersetzt wurden.
Zwei ihrer Werke wurden als Theaterstück umgesetzt, für das sie die Kostüme gemacht hat. Ihre Bücher dienten auch als Ausgang für Animationsfilme. Illustrationen des Buches "Der Froschkönig" wurden für das Konzert "Der Froschkönig bittet zum Seerosenball" beim Moritzburg Festival verwendet. Die Bücher "Mein erstes Bauernhof Wörterbuch" und "Was gehört wozu? Auf dem Land" wurden von der Jury des Vereins Information.medien.agrar für die Liste "Landwirtschaft im Kinderbuch - Empfehlenswerte" ausgewählt.
Ihre Arbeiten wurden international mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Unter anderem mit dem „Preis H.C.Andersen Sestri Levante“ und dem „Nationalpreis für Poesie und Fable Apuanischen Alpen“.
Heute lebt Barbara Jelenkovich im italienischen Udine.
Personal information
Barbara attended the State school of art and graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She is an illustrator specializing in pictures for children from 2 to 6 years old. She published her first book in 1985. To date she has had more than 140 books published by the most important Italian and German publishers, which have been translated in 25 different languages and have won worldwide acclaim. Since 1993 she has illustrated all the books of Giovanna Zordan, who writes for the Japanese publisher Gakken Co. In 1996 she won the prize "Un libro fantastico per l'infanzia" ALPI APUANE, for the book "Il Mio Primo Libro Dei Numeri", published by Istituto Geografico DeAgostini, Milano. She also designed the costumes for the childrens’play based on he same book. Her illustrations for the book "A busy awakening", Gakken, Tokyo were used to make the cartoon “Toto the Hedgehog”, published on DVD by Kyowon Jem Club, Seoul. Her illustrations for the book "Der Froschkönig", arsEdition, München were used to the scene painting for the concert of the Moritzburg Festival "Der Froschkönig bittet zum Seerosenball" staged at Die Gläserne Manufaktur von Volkswagen in Dresden.

Biografia
Barbara Jelenkovich nasce a Trieste nel 1961. Dopo l’Istituto Statale d’Arte di Trieste frequenta l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia dove si diploma in Decorazione. Pubblica il suo primo libro nel 1985. Da allora i suoi libri, più di 140 titoli pubblicati dai maggiori editori tedeschi ed italiani, sono stati tradotti in 25 lingue diverse ed apprezzati in tutto il mondo.
Dal 1993 illustra tutti i libri di Giovanna Zordan, che scrive per l’editore giapponese Gakken. Dai suoi libri sono stati tratti spettacoli teatrali, un cartone animato e le scenografie per lo spettacolo „Der Froschkönig bittet zum Seerosenball“ del festival di Moritzburg andato in scena a Dresda nel 2010.
